Final lettings announced as Sanderson Arcade gears up for a November opening!

The final units at Morpeth’s new shopping development Sanderson Arcade are getting snapped up as the centre gears up for a high profile November opening.

The £32 million scheme which is poised to push Morpeth up the North East’s retail rankings is 95 percent let with a flurry  of new lettings in the last two weeks:

Sanderson Arcade is anchored by Marks and Spencer with other retailers including New Look, Waterstones, Fat Face and Laura Ashley. The centre is scheduled to open on November 12th.

Newcastle coffee house Central Bean announced last week that they would also be opening a new outlet at the centre after seeing the scale and quality of the new scheme during a site visit.

Managing Director of developers Morpeth II, Mark Dransfield, said: “We are delighted that Paperchase are coming to Sanderson Arcade, they are a great brand and we’re confident they will do very well here.

“It has been our strategy from the outset to work with quality local retailers to ensure we get the right mix. This last minute rush of activity demonstrates the confidence that retailers from the region have in Morpeth and the trading opportunity for other quality regional traders are now limited to the two remaining units.”

Ashleigh Harker of Lilly Rose said she can’t wait to open her family florist business at Sanderson Arcade.

“We love Morpeth, it is such a pretty town and we are all so excited about opening our next shop here,” she said.

The new Edwardian style gallery which opens out onto a landscaped piazza has been inspired by the architecture of London’s Burlington Arcade. As well as 27 new retail outlet the scheme also incorporates high spec office space, an extended town centre car park and a new bus interchange.

Mark Dransfield added: “We have taken a comprehensive approach to the development to ensure it fits in well with the existing shops and businesses and of course public transport and parking.”
