The Festive season was given a traditional start at Morpeth's new Sanderson Arcade shopping centre this weekend for the fantastic Christmas Lights Switch On.
A seven metre high reindeer is the impressive centrepiece of the Christmas lights display which was switched on by Chris Hayward and Steve Arnott from Newcastle Theatre Royal's panto Cinderella - along with Santa and his little helpers!
Competitions and music from Metro Radio hosted by Anna Foster got everyone in the festive mood and hundreds of people turned out to see the Sanderson Arcade lights which were switched on just two days after the centre was opened to the public by Joanna Lumley.
Sanderson Arcade Centre Manager Debbie Anderson said: “We had a great crowd for the lights switch on and it really is fantastic to see the centre all lit up for Christmas. It has been a very busy few days and we've had a fantastic response to the Arcade from the public."
A collection was also held at the Christmas Lights event for the Sanderson Arcade charity - The Children's Foundation. The Sanderson Arcade team has set the target of raising £35,000 for essential equipment for sick children across the region.
