Park, Ride and Shop in Morpeth Town Centre !

Sanderson Arcade is working in partnership with Northumberland County Council on the new Saturday park and ride scheme bringing shoppers into the town.

The scheme allows shoppers to park in the County Council car park at County Hall and travel into the town centre by bus. Buses are every fifteen minutes from 8:30am with the last bus leaving Sanderson Arcade at 6:15pm.

Parking is free with an option to make a donation to The Children’s Foundation – the Sanderson Arcade adopted charity.

It’s hoped the Park and Ride scheme will ease the pressure on town centre car parking spaces. Staff car parking permits are also available for use at the Council’s Dark Lane depot.

Centre Manager, Debbie Anderson, said the company is committed to work together with the local authority.

She added: “The Park and Ride scheme seems to be very popular and we hope it’s something more and more people will take advantage of in the run up to Christmas.”

Cllr Alan Armstrong, executive member for highways and transport at Northumberland County Council, said: “We are pleased to be working with Sanderson Arcade, the Morpeth and District Chamber of Trade and the Castle Morpeth Disability Association. We hope that this additional car parking will be beneficial to the Morpeth economy in this important period for retail trade.”

The Council Hall car park can be found just off the A197 on the south side of Morpeth. When travelling on the A1 North - take the A197 - County Hall is on the right just after you enter Morpeth.
