Rachel is one in a million thanks to Sanderson Arcade!
SHOPPER Rachel Ozers got more than she bargained for when she visited Morpeth’s Sanderson Arcade over the bank holiday weekend on a shopping trip to buy her sister a birthday present.
Rachel, 22, was visiting the Arcade with her Mum Jude during a weekend trip home from London - totally unaware of the millionth customer promotion being run over the weekend at the shopping centre.
And as she stepped out of Paperchase where she’d popped in to buy a card, Rachel was tapped on the shoulder and told she won a fantastic £500 shopping spree with her very own personal shopper.
After the initial shock Rachel wasted no time in enjoying her prize picking out a fabulous new wardrobe from New Look followed by gifts for all her family, including of course her sister who was celebrating her 21st birthday.
Former KEVI School girl Rachel, now works for the BBC in London. She said: “It is fantastic, I have got some lovely things and still can’t believe it, I came to get a birthday present for my sister and this just came completely out of the blue.”
Rachel, whose family are from the Loansdean area of Morpeth, shopped till she dropped at Lemon, New Look and M&S, stopping for a brief rest and a gift for her Dad at Oxley’s of Morpeth.
“It has just been amazing. I was brought up in Morpeth and have only visited the Arcade once before on a trip home, it is really lovely, and winning this prize is just wonderful.”
Sanderson Arcade was opened by Joanna Lumley OBE in November last year, since then the development has attracted thousands of shoppers and been shortlisted for two major industry awards.
Footfall counters clock up the number of visitors each week and the team at the Arcade decided that hitting the million was something worth celebrating.
Debbie Anderson, Centre Manager at Sanderson Arcade, said: “We were all really excited as we were getting closer and closer to the million and watching the cameras in the Arcade from our control room.
“Our team in the Arcade were waiting to surprise the winning shopper but after identifying the winner we had an awful few moments when we thought we’d lost her – thankfully she’d just popped into a shop. Rachel and her Mum then shopped till they dropped and we hope it’s one mother and daughter shopping trip they’ll never forget – it was a real pleasure to meet them both.”
