Maggie Philbin, former Tomorrow’s World presenter and face of the BBC-run Switchover Help Scheme is at Sanderson Arcade on Tuesday (29th November) to reassure older and disabled people in the North East that help with the digital TV switchover is on its way.
Maggie will be speaking to eligible members of the Help Scheme about the help available for their switch to digital next year.
With the switchover taking place in the North East next year, most people will find it easy to make the switch. But some people, particularly those aged 75 or over or with disabilities, may be unsure about what to do or may find the task of switching daunting.
In the run-up to the switchover in each region, every eligible person will be offered practical help to convert one of their TV sets to digital by the Switchover Help Scheme.
Emma Speed is the Switchover Help Scheme manager for the North East region. She said: “Many people will find it simple to switch and lots of people already have. But for those who need a little extra help, we want them to know that they will get the additional support they need from the Switchover Help Scheme and Digital UK.”
Maggie and the Switchover Help Scheme team will be just outside Central Bean in the piazza area of Sanderson Arcade on Tuesday morning.
