Site Update From Sanderson Arcade!

WORK is now well underway on the Sanderson Arcade development in Morpeth – contractors Mansell have now started demolition work on the run down arcade area which is being transformed in the £32 million scheme.

Two teams are working on different parts of the site, one at the bus station and the other in the arcade area. Support systems have also been set up on the Bridge Street facade of the Sanderson House building which is being restored.

The project has been brought forward by Morpeth II, a joint venture between Yorkshire based market town specialists Dransfield Properties and Ethel Austin Properties Ltd.

A brand new  town centre bus interchange is also being created and this week work has started on foundations and piling work.

We have had some concerns raised over signage letting people know which areas are open to shoppers during construction work. More signage has now been erected to help avoid any confusion.

Spokeswoman for Dransfield Properties Amanda Holmes said: “After the launch event last month it is great to see work progressing well on site. We understand that the work will cause some inconvenience but ourselves and Mansell are working hard to keep everyone informed of what is happening on site.”
