Festive Farmers’ Market to be held this Saturday!

29 November 2016

The final Morpeth Farmers’ Market of the year will take place this Saturday (3rd of December) with a fantastic festive feel from 9am until 3pm.

The festive market will offer a variety of delicious local produce ranging from food-to-go, crafts, preserves and fresh meats.

Alison McClean will be among the traders this Saturday with a selection of her best preserves -  and for those who have a sweet tooth there will be a variety of chocolate, fudge, scones and cakes also available at this weekend’s market.

Fresh meats are always high on the agenda in December and this Saturday Jimmy the Lamb Man, Northumberland Poultry, Geordie Bangers and a selection of fish, game and cured meats stalls will also be available. And - producers will be more than happy to take orders for delivery nearer Christmas.

For those looking for something a little different, Shelley Louise Design will have a beautiful selection of jewellery and gorgeous smelling handmade scented candles, and in addition to this glass art, candles and plants will also be available – with plenty of gift ideas for all. Meanwhile, Simon Thompson from Northern Ark Nursery will have a fine selection of high quality Christmas wreaths for sale.

This Saturday all traders will also be bidding to be named “Best Dressed Stall” as Cllr Andrew Tebbutt, the Mayor of Morpeth will be judging the traders who have come up with the most impressive festive display.

The Bedlington Salvation Army will also be performing on the market place just before lunch time.

Nic Best a member of the Morpeth Markets Partnership and North East England Farmers’ Markets said: “We hope the whole town will come and visit the final Farmers’ Market of the year this Saturday and show support for our local traders and small businesses which always bring such great products to the area.”

"Markets are a great way to develop a small business and we’re fortunate to have some fantastic producers here.  The Morpeth Markets Partnership are always looking for traders who are passionate about their products and where they are produced to join the ever growing market.”

Morpeth Market is managed by Northumberland County Council and Sanderson Arcade, working in partnership with Morpeth Town Council, Morpeth and District Chamber of Trade and other local organisations through the Morpeth Market working group.

The Morpeth Market is held every Wednesday from 9am – 3pm and the Farmers’ Market is the first Saturday of every month – the next one being Monday 7th January 2017.
