New Arcade Display Celebrates The Morpeth Northumbrian Gathering’s Half Century

A new gallery display has been installed in Sanderson Arcade to mark the Morpeth Gathering’s 50th anniversary this month.

The gallery display is changed every month to coincide with a theme or event which is happening in the town.

As part of April’s display, the team at Sanderson Arcade are combining a display of Easter eggs and daffodils alongside the banners which mark the 50th anniversary of the Morpeth Gathering.

The Gathering display includes images of previous events including local characters and individuals in Morpeth such as the Morpeth Gadgy.

The Morpeth Northumbrian Gathering is an annual event and is held on the weekend after Easter. This event is over four days and has a number of activities across the town which celebrates the music and traditions of Northumberland.

Kim Bibby-Wilson, organiser of the Morpeth Gathering said: “I am delighted with the display Sanderson Arcade have put together to mark this very special anniversary.

“All the final preparations are coming together now and we look forward to welcoming many visitors into the town.”

Filipa Conceicao, Assistant Centre Manager at Sanderson Arcade added: “The Morpeth Gathering’s 50th anniversary is a very special time for Morpeth and we wanted to celebrate this occasion by dedicating out April display to this great event in the community.”
