North east dessert company’s sweet tweet is the icing on the cake!

23 May 2015

The north east dessert specialist The Pudding Parlour has joined an elite business club this week – after their unique family run firm turned the head of TV dragon Theo Paphitis.

Run by brother and sister Kristy Giblin and Greg Small the Pudding Parlour is based in Prudhoe and specialises in delicious desserts with a quirky American twist.

The company has grown in the last two years from a home-venture to an expanding business with three shops -  including one at Morpeth’s Sanderson Arcade,  they also have a concession in Fenwicks and deliver to cafés and restaurants right across the region.

And when they used twitter’s 140 characters to pitch their business to the star of TV’s Dragon’s Den in his online #SBS Small Business Sunday award the Pudding Parlour was picked out as one of the weekly winners.

As well as re-tweeting to his 474,000 followers the Pudding Parlour also joins a special Small Business Sunday business club and will be invited to the annual #SBS conference to meet Theo and other #SBS winners.

The #SBS initiative was set up to promote and support small businesses, to enter businesses have to tweet to Theo about their company using the #SBS hashtag between 5pm and 7:30pm on a Sunday  – the following day the winners are picked.

Kristy said: “We’d heard about the Small Business Sunday initiative and decided to give it a go – we couldn’t believe it when we were picked out  as one of his most promising businesses of 2015 and retweeted the following day.”

“The response on social media has been absolutely amazing and we’re really looking forward to meeting Theo and other SBS businesses at the conference. To have the input and support of someone with Theo’s ability and experience as a businessman is just fantastic.”
