Presenter Jonathan to front Morpeth’s annual food festival

BBC Newcastle’s mid – morning presenter and keen foodie Jonathan Miles will be hosting this year’s annual Morpeth Food Festival.

The popular radio presenter is hoping to pick up a few cooking tips throughout the day as he chats to the chefs, who will be creating some delicious local dishes at the demo kitchen throughout the festival on Saturday October 4th.

Self-confessed chocoholic Jonathan will be based at the market place in Morpeth throughout the event and is particularly looking forward to the chocolate festival – a new feature of this year’s event.

Jonathan, who can be heard on BBC Radio Newcastle between 10am and 12pm every weekday, said: “I am so pleased to have been asked to compere the Morpeth Food and drink festival as I love both!

“I will be paying special attention to the chocolate bits of the show, and hopefully scooping handfuls of it off chocolate fountains, or off the displays if there’s left overs. I’m also hoping to be surrounded by pies and Northumberland meat and to get some tips from our local chefs on how to improve my lack lustre culinary skills.

“I’m really looking forward to being part of something where I can snack all day in lovely surroundings.”

Cooking demos will start at 9am with a special Geordie breakfast and will run throughout the day. Events are taking place across the town and the organisers are delighted that the Band of the Royal Regiment of Fusiliers will also be performing and entertaining the crowds.

The Morpeth Food Festival is organised by the Morpeth Chamber of Trade, Sanderson Arcade, Morpeth Town Team, Morpeth Markets Advisory Group and Northumberland County Council.
