The Cornish clothing and homewares brand, Seasalt, open the doors of its most northerly stand alone store this Saturday (February 13th) at Morpeth’s Sanderson Arcade.

The Seasalt team have spent the last six weeks transforming the former East unit at the Arcade into the company’s newest shop and a special Cornish themed day is planned to mark the official opening on Saturday.

Traditional sea shanties as well as Cornish treats and drinks will welcome the first shoppers at the new store after a special ribbon cutting which is due to take place at 11am on Saturday morning.

Seasalt was founded in 1981 and has more than 30 shops across the UK, the company has won several national awards including the 2013 Drapers Womenswear Brand of the Year Award.

Sanderson Arcade centre manager, Medi Parry,  said the team at the Morpeth shopping centre is delighted to be welcoming the company.

She added: “The shop is looking fantastic and we can’t wait to see the doors open this Saturday. There will be some great entertainment and events in store to mark the opening and I’m sure our shoppers will give the new store a warm north east welcome.

“Seasalt is a fantastic Cornish brand and we are delighted that the company has chosen Morpeth for its new north east store.”

Around 10 new members of staff have been taken on at the new Seasalt shop. The business prides itself on creating beautiful and useful clothing and homewares reflecting the Cornish coastline and landscapes, and focussing on the very best quality and styling.

Seasalt co-founder, Neil Chadwick, said:  “We’ve all worked incredibly hard to get to where we are and we’re thrilled to be able to expand our business to another site further north for us.”
