Event: Official opening of The Pudding Parlour, Sanderson Arcade, Morpeth

Shoppers at Morpeth’s Sanderson Arcade are in for a treat next week – when the Pudding Parlour opens its doors to a brand new store.

The family run business which produces delicious desserts with an American twist has built up a strong following in the north east since opening in Hexham in 2013.

Run by baking siblings Kristy Giblin and Greg Small the Pudding Parlour team have spent the last two months transforming their new 200 sq. ft. unit in the piazza area of Sanderson Arcade into a brand new dessert boutique.

And from next week their cabinets will be crammed full of deliciously indulgent American style desserts including Cookie Dough Pie, Caramel Snickerdoodles, Mississippi Mud Pie and a range of tasty cheesecakes and sweet treats.

The new store, which can be found next to Waterstones at the Arcade, will open on Monday (February 23rd) with an official ribbon cutting at 10:30am on Wednesday February 25th when shoppers will be able to sample the Pudding Parlour’s delicious Chocolate Smothered Oreos.

The Mayor of Morpeth Cllr Nic Best and the Morpeth Gadgie will also be on hand to welcome the new store to the town.

As well as a store and bakery in Hexham the company also has a concession in Fenwick’s in Newcastle and Gosforth Garden Centre, as well as supplying a number of pubs and restaurants across the region.

The origins of the business began with Kristy’s love of baking and the pair quickly realised the business potential of the unique bakes and sat down to devise a structured business plan to turn a hobby into a profitable business offering.

Now they’re looking forward to opening their new Morpeth store and unveiling their latest venture to the town’s shoppers next week. Two new members of staff have been taken on to help run the Morpeth store.

Kristy said: “We’re really pleased with how the new shop looks and we hope our customers will be too.
“Morpeth is a really lovely town and we’ve had a wonderful response from people since we announced we were opening our new store here.

"This is a great location for us and we can’t wait to show everyone the new Pudding Parlour! It’s a real passion for us and we are always working hard to come up with different ideas and recipes.”

Centre Manager at Sanderson Arcade, Medi Parry, said:  “The new store looks absolutely fantastic, it’s going to be great to see the doors open next week.

“Kristy and Greg have got some amazing products and we are delighted to be welcoming them here to the Arcade.”
