The countdown to Morpeth Food and Drink Festival is on!

26 August 2017

This month’s Morpeth Farmer’s Market will be the last farmer’s market before the town’s annual Food and Drink Festival.

The countdown is officially on with only 5 weeks left until the festival kicks off for the 5th year running – for the first time it will be a whole weekend event running on Saturday 7th and Sunday 8th October.

More than 20 local traders will be at this month’s Farmer’s Market on Saturday (September 2nd) selling a variety of local produce including sausages, cheeses and crafts.

The Farmers’ Market traders will be returning to the Market Place for the festival in October - making the total number of traders over 100 for this year’s Food and Drink Festival.

As the summer holidays come to an end, this weekend’s market will have a “back to school” theme.

Traders will have some great ideas to brighten up a lunchbox with local, handmade bread for yummy sandwiches and fresh, juicy fruit to snack on as a healthy alternative.

From 11am the market will also welcome the Old English Falconry, who will be showcasing their magnificent birds of prey to the general public.

Assistant Centre Manager Lottie Thompson said: “This month’s Farmer’s Market is our last before the Food and Drink Festival and it is sure to be packed with plenty of local produce and will certainly not disappoint with entertainment from Old English Falconry.”

Morpeth Market is managed by Northumberland County Council and Sanderson Arcade, working in partnership with Morpeth Town Council, Morpeth and District Chamber of Trade and other local organisations through the Morpeth Market working group.

The Morpeth Market is held every Wednesday from 9am – 3pm and the Farmer's Market is the first Saturday of every month.
