Arcade Announces Christmas Cracker for North East Children’s Charity

23 November 2012

The team at Sanderson Arcade have announced that the charity the centre is supporting during 2013 will be The Sick Children’s Trust.

Retail and office workers at the centre have all had their say on which charity they’d like to see The Arcade fundraise for over the next 12 months.

And they’ve decided they’d like to fundraise to help the fantastic work of The Sick Children’s Trust – the charity supports the families of seriously ill children who are receiving treatment in hospitals across the region.

The fundraising has been launched with a Christmas card appeal which was unveiled at the Arcade’s Christmas Lights Events on Saturday November 17th.

The charity’s Crawford House in Newcastle  provides free ‘Home from Home’ accommodation for the families of children who are being treated at the Royal Victoria Infirmary and the Great North Children’s Hospital.

Centre Manager at Sanderson Arcade, Medi Parry said: “We asked the staff at the Arcade which charities they would like to support during the coming year and we put together a short list from there foreveryone to decide upon.

“We know there are so many charities doing fantastic work in the region that it’s always hard to select one and thought this was the fairest way to have everyone involved. We are really pleased to be supporting The Sick Children’s Trust and have already started our fundraising with the sale of our charity Christmas cards”

The Christmas cards have been designed by ten year old Naomi Godward from Chantry Middle School. Naomi won the card design competition and also helped Santa switch the Christmas lights on earlier this month.

Caroline O’Doherty, Campaigns and Appeals Manager at the charity, said: “Everyone at The Sick Children’s Trust is delighted to have the support of Sanderson Arcade and with the wonderful cards Naomi designed I am sure they will be big sellers at Christmas. We are looking forward to working together to help our appeal and make a difference to even more families during 2013.”

The Arcade Christmas Cards are £2 per pack and can be bought from The Corbridge Larder or from the management suite at Sanderson Arcade.
