Arcade Team Complete Dementia Friend Training

17 June 2019

The team at Sanderson Arcade have undertaken training by local businessman and dementia champion Guy Kirk aimed at increasing their understanding of customers with dementia.

Beadles, Cleaning Operatives and the Arcade Management team now have a much better understanding of the challenges and obstacles that customers with dementia may face.

Staff who are “Dementia Friends” can be identified with a pin on the uniform and shoppers are encouraged to stop and chat with the team so they can offer any assistance needed with their shopping experience.

Guy Kirk, of Home Instead South East Northumberland who chairs Dementia Friendly Morpeth said: “Thank you to Joel Plumley and his amazing team of Beadles who are supporting Dementia Friendly Morpeth.

"They have all become Dementia Friends by attending a session to learn more about dementia - thereby increasing their knowledge and ability to make Sanderson Arcade a friendly place for all to visit, including those living with dementia.  It is antastic to have Sanderson Arcade on board!”

Joel Plumley, Centre Manager of Sanderson Arcade said: ‘It is essential that all of our staff are trained to the highest level of customer service available. Having extra knowledge of the needs of our customers enhances that experience.”
