Arcade Team Get Creative for World Book Day!

26 February 2020

As Part of World Book Day the team at Sanderson Arcade have launched their own creative writing competition - featuring the centre’s famous Beadles.

The title of the story is 'The Beadle and the Lost Top Hat’ and budding writers of all ages are being asked to use their imagination and create a story around the missing topper.

It’s up to each author to decide where the top hat has gone, what happened to it and even if the poor Beadle ever finds his hat again!

This competition is open to all ages and story sheets are available from Waterstones Morpeth or can be downloaded from the Arcade website.

The competition ends on Monday 9th March with the winner taking home £50 to spend in Waterstones Morpeth and have their story displayed in the Arcade!

The competition is linked with World Book Day on Thursday 5th March when there will also be an after school meet and greet with Mary Poppins and Alice in Wonderland from 3pm - 5pm in the Arcade. There’s also a fancy dress parade at 4pm with prizes for 1st, 2nd and 3rd.

World Book Day Vouchers can also be redeemed at Waterstones and Marks and Spencer’s in Sanderson Arcade.

Assistant Centre Manager of Sanderson Arcade Lottie Thompson said: “We are really excited to celebrate World Book Day here at Sanderson Arcade and we cannot wait to read the stories we get from our creative writing competition.”
