Bake off Buzz comes to Morpeth for the town’s two day Food Festival

The Great British Bake Off returns to our TV screens this month and Morpeth has its very own baking competition planned as part of the town’s Food and Drink Festival which takes place on October 7th and 8th.

The Morpeth Food and Drink Festival is celebrating its 5th anniversary this year and organisers have been busy planning for the event to be even bigger and better than previous year’s with two packed days of fantastic food and entertainment.

As well as cooking demonstrations, live entertainment and more than 100 stalls the town’s talented amateur cooks will be given the opportunity to showcase their talents in their bid to win first prize in the jam, scone and sweet pie competitions.

And this year the judges will be joined by Lorna Robertson – Masterchef Finalist in 2017 – who will be checking the entries for quality, flavour and consistency. Lorna will also be demonstrating her own cooking skills by preparing one of her favourite dishes in the demo kitchen.

Assistant Centre Manager at Sanderson Arcade Lottie Thompson, said: “We are really looking forward to this year’s Food Festival and the competition is always something people particularly enjoy getting involved with so we can’t wait to sample some of the entries.

“It is fantastic that Lorna is joining us at this year’s festival and will be helping out with the judging as well as showing her own amazing cooking skills.”
