Bar Luga to Open New Outlet at Morpeth's Sanderson Arcade
5 May 2011
Newcastle based leisure operator and interior design company, Fluid Design Solutions (Fluid Group), has announced it is to open a new outlet in Morpeth creating 35 new jobs.
Fluid Group, owner of the hugely successful Barluga, a sophisticated gastro-pub and terrace situated in the heart of Newcastle, is launching Barluga Deli, a European styled cafe which will bring a casual style of dining combined with deli counters to Sanderson Arcade.
Set out over two floors, Barluga Deli will occupy Unit 3D providing a combined footprint of 4,000 square feet, creating space for a total of 120 covers/diners. Each floor will offer customers both deli counter and full table service.
This will be the second outlet operated by Fluid Group in the Sanderson Arcade. Its Central Bean Coffee House was launched when the Arcade opened in November 2009 and continues to enjoy a loyal and growing clientele.
With the opportunity to build on its success, Sanderson Arcade’s developers, Dransfield Properties, made a direct approach to Fluid who quickly grasped the chance to capitalise on its existing Barluga brand, yet giving the new outlet a slight twist and an extensive continental deli offering.
Speaking about this latest venture, which represents an overall investment of £1million, director, David King said:
“Sanderson Arcade is a stylish location with a considerable weekly footfall of discerning customers who appreciate high quality, freshly prepared food served in a comfortable environment. Although we still face challenging times and the overall investment of £1million is a significant one, I am confident that the launch of Barluga Deli is right for us as it shows our commitment to the region by creating new jobs and will be well received in Morpeth.”
“Customers to Barluga Deli can expect to see a varied menu which will suit most palates and they can look forward to receiving excellent service when we open for business.”
Fluid Group has signed a 20 year lease and is looking to open Barluga Deli late summer.
Debbie Anderson, manager of Sanderson Arcade added:
“We are delighted that Fluid Group has decided to bring another one of its outlets to Sanderson Arcade. I believe Barluga Deli’s offering not only sits very well with what is already available in the Arcade but broadens our offering as it will appeal to business diners and ladies who lunch as well as customers who want perhaps more than a coffee and a sandwich.”
Barluga Deli is joining established high street names including Monsoon and JoJo Maman Bebe who have recently opened in the Arcade.
