Big Crowds and Festive Cheer as Rick Stein Returns to Sanderson Arcade

Crowds braved the rainy weather to give a warm Northumberland welcome to celebrity chef Rick Stein at Sanderson Arcade in Morpeth today, as he returned to the centre’s Waterstones store for an exclusive book signing.
Fans queued in the drizzle for the chance to meet Rick, who was signing copies of his brand-new seasonal release, Rick Stein’s Christmas – his very first Christmas book.
The new title is filled with more than 100 recipes to take readers right through the festive season, from roast goose and glazed ham to mince pies and creative dishes for using up leftovers. It also captures Rick’s cherished memories of family, friends, and the joy of celebrating Christmas together – making it a perfect companion for the season.
Rick’s visit marked the start of a wonderful diary of festive events at Sanderson Arcade, as the centre begins to sparkle with Christmas lights and decorations.
Caroline Dominey, Manager of Waterstones at Sanderson Arcade said: “We had an absolutely overwhelming response and lots of people braving the rain to come and meet Rick Stein, its been such a lovely atmosphere and we’re very grateful to everyone who’s turned out and make it such a lovely event.
“We do quite a few author events and we have more coming up next year as well so do look out for what’s coming up.”
Centre Manager Lottie Thompson said: “It was fantastic to see so many people turning out to welcome Rick back to the Arcade, despite the wet weather! There was a brilliant atmosphere all day, and it really feels like the festive season has begun.
“We’ve got a packed line-up of events coming up over the next few weeks – from family favourites to something for everyone to enjoy, and of course our lights are now on and looking lovely.”
The Arcade team is also due to unveil a specially commissioned festive postcard created by talented local artist Kenton Duffield, capturing the magic of the Arcade at Christmas. The postcards will be available from mid-November, coinciding with the beautiful Christmas decorations going up across the centre.
Families can also look forward to the return of Hot Chocolate with Santa at Central Bean on Saturday 22nd and Sunday 23rd November – a heart-warming favourite for all ages. Tickets are available directly from Central Bean.
And of course, no Christmas at Sanderson Arcade would be complete without a visit from the real reindeer, returning on Sunday 14th December for a magical day out for the whole family.
