Casual Dining on the Menu at Morpeth’s New Barluga Deli
24 November 2011
Food lovers in Morpeth are in for a gastro treat – the stylish new Barluga Deli has opened its doors at the town’s Sanderson Arcade, just in time for Christmas.
A Ł1 million investment has transformed the final unit in the Arcade’s second phase into a fabulous and spacious bar, restaurant and deli, the fantastic interior has been designed to bring the feel and atmosphere of a European cafe into the heart of Morpeth.
The concept is the brain child of The Fluid Group; already well know in Newcastle with its chic gastro pub Barluga. The company also owns the popular Central Bean Coffee House brand which has a successful outlet here at Sanderson Arcade.
Now the company has opened the brand new Barluga Deli, creating 35 new jobs in the town. The restaurant is set over two floors with space for 120 diners – each floor offers customers both fresh deli counters and a full table service.
Work started on the new Barluga Deli in August and local contractors Pringle Contracts have now completed the impressive fit out, designed by Fluid Design Solutions, just in time for the busy Christmas period.
A varied and imaginative menu has been created by Barluga Newcastle’s Head Chef David Blackhall, everything served at the deli is prepared freshly on site in an open kitchen and the team have sourced the best local suppliers and producers.
Fluid Group Director David King said: “We are delighted to be opening our newest outlet here at Sanderson Arcade and we’ve already had some really wonderful feedback from customers – a lot of people didn’t realise how much space we would have!
“We are really focussed on our attention to detail and wanted to create a casual but stylish atmosphere as well as a really imaginative menu, we’ve worked hard to achieve that and I hope our customers will love it as much as we do.”
Amanda Holmes, spokeswoman for Sanderson Arcade said: “It’s great to be welcoming Barluga Deli to the Arcade, the bar and restaurant looks amazing and there really is nothing like it in Morpeth.
“We have a great line up here at the Arcade and Barluga Deli really brings something different to the town. It’s been a busy time for the team getting ready for the Christmas trade and they’ve done a fantastic job – we wish them all the very best in their new venture here.”
