A little piece of chocolate heaven will be unveiled this weekend when the brand new store Curiously Wicked opens its doors to shoppers at Morpeth’s Sanderson Arcade.

The award winning chocolatier already has a huge following in the North East and is a regular at the region’s farmers markets and fairs.

Now the company, set up by former teacher Krystyna Dodds, is getting ready to open its very first shop here at Sanderson Arcade where Curiously Wicked will be bringing its mouth watering array of connoisseur chocolates, cakes, and desserts as well as fantastic chocolate sculptures.

The company is billed as the North East’s answer to Choccywoccydoodah and sells delicious hand made goods, which all have a little bit of attitude!

The most popular Curiously Wicked chocolate is called “I May Not Be Pretty – But I’m Hot on the Inside” which is a delicious mix of rum, blueberries and chilli! And the cheeky theme runs throughout many of the other amazing flavoured chocolates.

Krystyna and her family are currently transforming their new 830 sq ft unit along the Arcade’s gallery into a fabulous chocolate emporium which will be unveiled to shoppers this Saturday.

Krystyna is so passionate about her business that she sold many of her most valuable possessions on eBay to fund her venture after leaving her teaching job at Bothal Middle School in 2010.

Her company was the first one of its kind outside London to be accepted as full a member of the Guild of Master Craftsmen and Curiously Wicked has also this year won a top worldclass award from the Academy of Chocolate for its Original Cinn truffle - crammed with fresh apples and Jim Beam!

This weekend’s opening will be celebrated with a window unveiling and a special performance by the well known and very talented local singer Tom Wylie who will be serenading Saturday shoppers.

Krystyna, from New Hartley, said: “We are extremely excited about opening our first shop and to be here at Sanderson Arcade is just fantastic. We only launched the company last year and the response to our products and our flavours has been fantastic. This is a dream come true!

“We really do aim to bring something different and a little bit of theatre – we want to be the jewel in the crown at Sanderson Arcade and the best little chocolate shop in England!"
