Christmas cheer lights the way at Sanderson Arcade!

13 November 2020

The stunning Christmas lights at Sanderson Arcade in Morpeth have now been switched on ready for the festive period.

The display which features the beautiful traditional Christmas tree and huge red bow on the Bridge Street entrance is now in place and lit up for the whole of November and December.  The popular red carpet and stylish swags along the gallery area of the Arcade have also been installed.

In previous years thousands of people have turned out to take part in the popular lights switch on event in both the town centre and at Sanderson Arcade.

But this year the festive display has been switched on behind closed doors in line with the current lockdown restrictions.

Many essential permitted retailers remain open at Sanderson Arcade throughout November. These include M&S, Home Bargains, Morpeth Larder and Pets at Home.  Others including the newly opened Sandersons Boutique Store and Next are offering click and collect services and some cafés offering a takeaway service.

Sandersons Boutique, which opened just last month, is also offering free local delivery for customers within a five mile radius.

Non-essential retailers are scheduled to re-open their doors after the month-long lockdown finishes on December 2nd.

The team at Sanderson Arcade are also preparing to host Christmas Markets on Saturday 14th November and Saturday 12th December, showcasing the very best local produce, sweet treats and food-to-go with a festive twist.

Centre Manager at Sanderson Arcade, Lottie Thompson, said: “We love this time of year here at the Arcade. Although we haven’t been able to host our usual Christmas Lights Switch On event in the town we do hope everyone enjoys seeing the centre lit up and looking festive for November and December.

“We would like to thank all our customers for supporting our centre this year and look forward to the non-essential stores being able to re-open early in December.”

The regular weekly Morpeth Market and monthly Farmer’s Market can also take place under the current restrictions for those traders selling essential items.
