Double celebration for Frank Bird team – shortlisted in top regional award

The independent Morpeth menswear retailer Frank Bird is marking a double celebration this month.
The store has been shortlisted for a major regional north-east award and is also celebrating two years of trading in the town.
Frank Bird opened at Sanderson Arcade in Morpeth two years ago this month after the company decided to spread its wings from its Yorkshire base in Wakefield and Barnsley.
Now the popular store has also been shortlisted for the What's On Where (WOW) Awards sponsored by Johnston Press – which owns the Morpeth Herald and other titles across the region.
The Morpeth store has been shortlisted in the Independent Boutique Category – the winners will be announced in a special awards ceremony being held at Newton Hall in Alnwick later this month.
Store manager at Frank Bird Leyh Grinder said: “We celebrate our second birthday in Morpeth this month and it’s a fantastic achievement for everyone on the team at Frank Bird to be nominated and shortlisted for this award.
“We strive to provide a high level of customer service and a great shopping experience and we’re hoping the judges will be impressed by our commitment as an independent retailer In Morpeth.”
Since opening at the Arcade the team at Frank Bird have worked hard to be part of the local community, organising regular competitions and recently introducing a loyalty card scheme.
Centre manager at Sanderson Arcade, Medi Parry said: “Well done to the team at Frank Bird, its great news that the store has been short-listed and we’ve got our fingers crossed for them for the awards later this month.”
Other categories in the WOW awards include Pub of the Year, Community Event of the Year and the Taste of Northumberland Award. The gala awards evening will be held on March 20th.
