Free parking (and more of it!) for Morpeth

3 September 2008

Low Stanners Car Park at Staithes Lane in Morpeth has now reopened following extensive remodelling and improvement by Castle Morpeth Borough Council.

The car park has doubled in size and now offers 84 spaces in a greatly improved environment.  And the good news is that parking at Low Stanners is free until the end of September 2008.

The car park provides long stay parking aimed at workers in the town as well as providing 11 short stay spaces to support residents and businesses in the Staithes Lane area.

Councillor Peter Jackson welcomed the new facility:

“Building on the success of the new car park at Dark Lane, this development marks a further milestone in the Council’s plans to provide additional, upgraded parking to support the town, its workforce and visitors, as well as our commitment to improve the condition of car parks throughout the town. “

“We’re keen to encourage people to try out the improved car park so there will be no charge until the end of September.”

More improvements are in the pipeline as the Council continues its redevelopment works in Greys Yard over the next 6 weeks, where contractors will be improving the surface, quality and layout of parking facilities.
