Garden Lovers Fair comes to Sanderson Arcade

10 April 2019

The team at Sanderson Arcade are gearing up for their first ever Garden Lovers Fair on Saturday 20th April.

From 10am-3:30pm there will be lots of excitement within Sanderson Arcade including a kid’s activity area and live demonstration stage hosted by BBC Newcastle’s Garden Mania host Marian Foster.

There will be talks and demos throughout the day, including one from the Arcades very own gardener, Ray Dixon, showing crowds how to create a ‘in bloom winning’ hanging basket.

Morpeth’s Allotment officer Terry Garnick will be demonstrating how to grow a sunflower to your height, plus a range of other local expert gardeners.

The children’s activity area will include garden-themed crafts such as decorating plant pots, sowing a sunflower, painting stones for the garden and helping build a bug hotel plus free face painting.

There will also be a host of local traders including Northern Ark Nursery, A Little Plant Company, Bide a Wee Cottage Nursery and Perennial Favourites selling a range of plants, flowers and gardening bits.

There will be an exhibition from Morpeth Town Council, taking a look back on the town’s success at Britain and Northumbria in Bloom, as well as a pop up from Northumberland College and their Horticulture Department.

Sanderson Arcade Centre Manager Joel Plumley said: “We are excited to be celebrating Easter with something different this year, our brand new Garden Lovers Fair!

“The event is aimed at bringing together green fingered garden lovers of all ages, with fun activities planned for both children and adults.”
