Green fingered youngsters dig in for town's floral displays

5 July 2019

Pupils from two Morpeth schools have been putting their gardening skills to the test this month as the town prepares its stunning summer floral displays.

Businesses and stakeholders across the town pride themselves on their beautiful seasonal displays which regularly impressed the judges of the Northumbria In Bloom and Britain in Bloom – earning Morpeth a Gold award last year.

The team at Sanderson Arcade have been working with Goosehill School and Cleaswell Hill School to help create some additional colourful floral displays around the Arcade. The Goosehill planted wheelbarrow can be found at the entrance to the Stanley Terrace Car Park.

The pupils from Cleaswell Hill School are also planting up a barrow with flowers and compost delivered to the school ready for the display which will also be placed in the car park for visitors to enjoy.

Cleasewell Hill is the chosen charity for Sanderson Arcade during 2019. Centre manager at Sanderson Arcade Joel Plumley said: “We are always really keen to involve the local community with our floral displays and planting.

“Our team has loved working with these two great schools on the planting project, I hope the pupils have enjoyed it as much as we have and that its really inspired them to enjoy gardening.”

Judges from Britain In Bloom and Northumbria in Bloom will be visiting Sanderson Arcade later this month.
