Lexus announced as sponsor of Morpeth’s 6th annual Food Festival

1 May 2018

Morpeth is gearing up for the town’s sixth annual Food and Drink Festival and the team behind the popular event have announced that this year’s main sponsor is Lexus Newcastle.

A weekend of foodie fun, activities and entertainment is planned on October 6th and 7th with more than 100 stalls in four locations across the town.

The annual two day event has built up over the last six years and now attracts visitors and traders from right across the region - last year visitor numbers topped 45,000.

As well as a delicious array of local and international food and drinks, the event will also showcase the talents of a host of local chefs in the Morpeth Food and a Drink Festival Demo Kitchen which will be hosted by Capital North East breakfast presenter, Matt Bailey.

The event is organised by the Sanderson Arcade team working with the Morpeth and District Chamber of Trade as well as Northumberland County Council’s market team and other groups and stakeholders in the town.

Local and international foods will be showcased at the two day event and Master Chef finalist Lorna Robertson will also be making an appearance in the demo kitchen.

This year’s festival also promises to build on the success of previous years with even more activities planned - including a Morpeth Foodie Trail and a packed line up of musical entertainment which will run into the evening.

Joel Plumley, Centre Manager from Sanderson Arcade and part of the Food Festival team, said: “The Morpeth Food and Drink Festival is a really important date in the town’s diary and attracts thousands of visitors into Morpeth.

“We want to continue to build and grow the event every year and we are extremely proud to have the team from Lexus Newcastle on board to help us deliver another fantastic town wide event for 2018.”

Andrew Clark at Lexus Newcastle said: “Morpeth is a lovely market town and we are delighted to be involved with the annual Food and Drink Festival for the first time this year, it is is a great annual event which we are very much looking forward to being a part of later in the year.”

Further announcements about the festival will be made over the coming weeks and months as the date gets closer.
