Mini Morpeth Food Festival comes to town this weekend!
4 May 2021
A ‘Mini Food Festival’ is coming to Morpeth this weekend, showcasing fresh produce, exciting street food and sweet treats from the regions very best independent traders.
40 traders in total will attend across the weekend – 20 on Saturday 8th and 20 on Sunday 9th May and include Phi Phi Greek Street Food, Geordie Bangers with their popular ‘bangers on a stick’, Halloumi Street Fries and Lucca Pizza serving woodfired Neapolitan pizzas.
There will also be live music to enjoy both at the mini Food Festival and inside Sanderson Arcade’s piazza area from 11am – 3pm. Artists performing across the weekend include Kathryn Byford Adam on saxophone, Millennium Bug acoustic duo playing covers from the 80’s and 90’s plus soloist Lou Coel singing Soul classics.
Inside Sanderson Arcade, Angel Skin facial oils will trade on the Saturday and Sprinkled Cupcakes on the Sunday – their stalls will be located by the new Sandersons Boutique Department Store.
This weekend’s mini Food Festival is the first event in the town’s diary this year, with two speciality markets and even a dog event, ‘Sanderson Barkade’ planned for later in the summer.
Sanderson Arcade Centre Manager, Lottie Thompson, said: “We are excited and ready to host out mini Food Festival this weekend with 20 different traders attending each day across the weekend and a fabulous live music line up, there will definitely be something for everyone to enjoy!
“We encourage our local community to continue supporting local markets and traders - traders have lost the majority of their business with events being cancelled across the region due to covid-19 but the Morpeth markets team continue to support local traders by hosting markets and smaller events in a safe and enjoyable way.
Covid-19 safety measures will be in place throughout all Markets and events taking place in Morpeth and at Sanderson Arcade, including contactless payments, hand sanitising stations, a one way system to move around the Markets plus all visitors are encouraged to wear face coverings whilst shopping at the Market
A full list of traders attending this weekend’s event will be announced on Sanderson Arcade’s Facebook page later this week (@sandersonarcade)
