Morpeth Bus Station Works

9 July 2020

From Monday 13th July works will begin on Morpeth Bus Station concourse by infrastructure group Balfour Beatty.

The works are due to be completed within two weeks and be done in two phases: Phase 1 will be the closure of bus stands A-E and Phase 2 will be F-I.

As part of the works there will be two temporary bus stops on Manchester Street. All changes to bus services will be communicated with customers and passengers by Arriva and there will also be ample signage in place throughout Morpeth Bus Station.

Head of Customer Experience and Communications in the North & Midlands at Balfour Beatty, Sarah Thornicroft, said: “We are currently carrying out essential improvement works to the Morpeth Bus Station concourse which will cause minor layout disruption. We advise that passengers visit the Arriva website before travelling and to look out for information signs throughout the bus station.

“The team are delivering all works strictly adhering to Balfour Beatty’s Covid-19 Site Operating Procedures to ensure the continued health, safety and wellbeing of all those who work for and with us, as well as the general public.”

Social distancing and other Covid-19 measures will still be in place throughout Morpeth Bus Station and, as per government guidance, you must wear a face covering to travel on public transport.

To keep up to date with changes to local services please head to www.arrivabus.co.uk/north-east/ or call Arriva’s Customer Service team on 0344 800 44 11.

We apologise in advance for any disruption this may cause.
