Morpeth Farmers Market Celebrates 20th Anniversary!

4 November 2019

Morpeth’s popular Farmers’ Market celebrated two decades of delicious local produce at the weekend.

The busy market began in 1999 to coincide with the 800th anniversary celebration of the town’s 1199 Market Charter.

Since then the much-loved monthly event has gone from strength to strength, growing in popularity for its fabulous local produce and showcasing some great entertainment.

Saturday was a celebration of those traders who had been part of the market for the last twenty years including Ian Byatt from Moorehouse Farm, Jimmy the Lamb Man and Heather Foggon from Chirnells Farmhouse Kitchen.

To further celebrate the 20th anniversary the original “juggling sheep” logo for the Northumberland Farmers’ Markets Association has made a return and can be found on exclusive 20th anniversary canvas bags which are available to purchase at every Farmers’ Market.

On Saturday the market even attracted customers who had bought the original canvas bags back in early 2000.  The next Farmers’ Market will be the festive market and the final one for 2019, taking place on Saturday 7th December.
