Morpeth Farmers Market Returns for Easter Weekend

30 March 2021

The Farmers' Market is taking place this Saturday (3rd April), offering a range of fresh local produce for essential shopping, just in time for the Easter Bank Holiday.

From 9am-3pm shoppers can pick up delicious food items including freshly ground coffee from Luckie Beans, homemade pies from Murphy’s Kitchen, artisan scotch eggs from The Yolker, locally brewed locally brewed beer from Muckle Brewing and much more.

If you are looking for fresh meats for your Easter Sunday roasts, Moorehouse Farm, Geordie Bangers and Ridleys Fish and Game will be at the market and if you are looking for some sweet treats Bake for the Soul will be at the market with chocolaty traybakes and cakes.

The team from Sanderson Arcade are also planning a series of special themed markets to take place in Morpeth this summer when restrictions have eased, and they have asked for local people to vote on what Markets they want to see come to the area!

A social media poll will go live at the beginning of April on the Sanderson Arcade Facebook page where people can choose which Markets they want to see in the town this summer from Vegan, Craft, Northumbrian, Sweet Treats, Artisan and Cocktail Party.

Lottie Thompson, Centre Manager of Sanderson Arcade said: “We have a fabulous host of local, independent traders returning this weekend for our Monthly Farmers’ Market, giving local people a safe way to shop outdoors whilst supporting independent traders.

“We are also really excited to launch our social media poll within the coming days and we want to hear from you – which type of themed Market do you want to see come to Morpeth this summer!”

Essential traders can trade as normal and customers are encouraged to shop efficiently. A one-way system will be in place and hand sanitiser available upon entry. It is also encouraged that all customers wear face coverings and pay contactless where they can.

Morpeth Markets are welcoming back the Monthly Street Food Market on the fourth Saturday of every month with the first one taking place on Saturday 24th April. The market partnership are also working on a mini food festival market on the Early May Bank Holiday, Saturday 8th and Sunday 9th May and also special Summer markets in June and August which will be voted for by the public.

Morpeth Market is managed by Northumberland County Council and Sanderson Arcade, working in partnership with Morpeth Town Council.
