Morpeth Food Festival Demo Kitchen Line Up Revealed

29 August 2019

Morpeth’s Food Festival favourite - the much-loved Demo Kitchen - will be returning for the 2019 event with a great line up of chefs.

Located in the Farmers’ Market Area on the Market Place, the Demo Kitchen plays host to a range of local and regional chefs showcasing everything from breakfast must-haves to seafood delicacies.

Starting on Saturday 5th October from 10am – 4pm and Sunday 6th October 10am – 3pm, the kitchen will be hosted by another food fest favourite, BBC Newcastle’s Matt Bailey.

2019 will see the kitchen welcome back; Masterchef Finalist Lorna Robertson, The Old Boat House Chef Martin Charlton, Chocolatier Bev Stephenson from North Chocolates, and Head Brewer Tom Smith from Muckle Brewing as well as welcoming some new faces!

One of the new chefs the organisers are excited to welcome this year is Anna Hedworth from Cook House, an award-winning restaurant housed in two shipping containers based in Ouseburn Newcastle. Anna has also written a cookery book, ‘Recipes and Stories from Cook House’ which is due to be released next month.

Anna’s restaurant has won accolades from The Good Food Guide, The Observer Food Monthly Awards, The Times and The Guardian.  She’ll be in Waterstones at Sanderson Arcade for a meet and greet from 11am – 12.30pm and then in the Demo Kitchen from 2pm.

Other new chefs for 2019 include Silver Sheldon from Hadrians Game Larder and Wilmer Carcamo from Caribe Coffee, both regular traders to the monthly Morpeth Farmers’ Market. Wilmer will be kicking off the Sunday demo kitchen at 11am with the ultimate coffee chat and tasters.

The demo kitchen line-up will also feature some familiar faces from the fantastic restaurants in Morpeth such as Dan Suggate from Barluga and Imogen Roth from Healthy Prep Kitchen!

Centre Manager of Sanderson Arcade Joel Plumley said: “We can’t wait to deliver another fantastic Food and Drink festival this year with lots of new chefs joining the Demo Kitchen line up to learn new recipes from!”
The demo kitchen is sponsored by Barratt Homes. The kitchen is provided by The Cookery Theatre Company.

Anna Hedworth’s Book ‘Recipes and Stories from Cook House’ will be published 5th September by Head of Zeus and will be available to purchase from Waterstones Morpeth.
