Morpeth to host a Northumbrian Market this weekend

14 July 2021

Morpeth Market’s are set to host the first of two brand new summer taster markets this weekend (Saturday 17th July), kicking off with The Northumbrian Market showcasing the very best produce the region has to offer.

The market will take place at Morpeth Market Place from 9am – 3pm and will include traders from across the county with a mix of food, drink and craft.

Food and drink traders include Muckle Brewing’s Mighty Beers of Northumberland, brewed in a tiny garden situated close to Hadrians Wall, Bread and Roses artisan bakers based in Alnwick specialising in authentic naturally leavened and sourdough breads, and L of a Bake with scrumptious brownies and cookies lovingly home baked in Blythe.

Crafts traders include Carole Loves Art, a painter and potter who takes inspiration from Northumbrian Landscapes and Little Flowers by Sligo from Morpeth who specialises in prints and cards.

The market will also have live music from 11am from Matt Dunbar.

The Northumbrian Market was voted for on Morpeth Markets social media poll and will accompany the Crafts Market taking place next month on Saturday 21st August as part of Morpeth’s ‘Summer Taster Markets’.

The new taster markets join the catalogue of markets organised by the team including weekly Wednesday Market, monthly Farmers’ Market and monthly Street Food Market. The Farmers’ market takes place on the first Saturday of the month and Street Food Market takes place on the fourth Saturday of the month.

Lottie Thompson from Sanderson Arcade and Morpeth Markets team said: “We are really looking forward to bringing two new markets to Morpeth this summer as voted for by our customers, starting off with the Northumbrian Market this weekend.

“We are always looking for ways to improve our offering in the town and we are confident that our two taster markets will prove successful enough to make them a permanent feature as part of our seasonal market plan!”
