Sanderson Arcade team net 6,000 for Alan Shearer Foundation

27 November 2017

The team at Morpeth’s Sanderson Arcade have raised a fantastic £6,000 for the Alan Shearer Foundation after organising a number of fundraising events over the last 12 months.

The staff at the busy shopping centre selected the foundation as their chosen charity over the last year.

The money they have raised will help support the Alan Shearer Centre which is a highly specialist, respite, residential and social facility for people with complex disabilities and acute sensory impairments.

The £6,000 target was raised through last year’s Christmas Tree of Light as well as a special VIP Fashion Show at Barluga as well as a sponsored leg wax by the Sanderson Arcade Beadles and the team at Pinky’s Nail Boutique.

The centre’s regular buskers have also helped to boost the fundraising as well as a mini music festival held at the Arcade.

The cheque was handed over by the Arcade team to Alan Shearer’s Wife Lainya Shearer, who is also a patron of the charity.

Lottie Thompson, assistant centre manager at Sanderson Arcade, said: “We are delighted with the amount which has been raised over the last 12 months and we’d like to say a huge thankyou to everyone who has helped us to reach this target. Every penny raised will go direct to making a real difference to the families who use this fantastic facility.”

Mrs Shearer also officially opened the new Mint Velvet store at Sanderson Arcade and met the team at the centre’s newest fashion store.

The Arcade team have announced their charity for 2018 will be Cleaswell Hill School. Cleaswell Hill School is a day community Special School based in Choppington, Northumberland.
