Sanderson Arcade’s Big Jubilee Weekender

6 June 2022

A royally good time was had by all in Morpeth over the four-day bank holiday in celebration of the Queen’s Platinum Jubilee.

The team at Sanderson Arcade held a series of events in the town’s Market Square including a Jubilee Party on Friday June 3rd taking shoppers through a timeline of live music through the ages. The event was organised by Sanderson Arcade and Morpeth Town Council.

Free face painting, street food and a prosecco bar was also on offer throughout the day adding to the party atmosphere.

The celebrations continued Saturday June 4th with a Jubilee themed Farmers’ Market seeing local traders pull out the stops dressing their stall red, white and blue. Morpeth’s Town Mayor, Alison Byard, awarded Moorhouse Farm with the Best Dressed Trader and Stall award.

Stores within Sanderson Arcade were also challenged to dress up as a version of the Queen to be in with a chance of winning a £50 bar tab in Barluga. The Mayor of Morpeth picked the team from Hobbs as the winners, whilst More in Morpeth’s Best Dressed Window Display was awarded to Kelly Robson Interiors. Kelly Robson Interiors won a year subscription to More in Morpeth social media support.

Kaitlin Hattle, Assistant Centre Manager at Sanderson Arcade, said: “Thank you so much to everyone who joined us in our celebrations over this very special Bank Holiday, the atmosphere was just amazing.

“It was great to see so many participate, from our visitors dancing to the live music in the sun, to our traders and store teams dressing up and putting on some fabulous jubilee displays - a great day was had by all!”

Sanderson Arcade’s Jubilee patchwork display, which was made up from individually designed patches from over 2,000 Morpeth pupils, will be hung in the gallery until the end of June so shoppers still have plenty of time to admire this fantastic display of local artwork.

The team at the Arcade are now busy preparing for their Barkade event which will take place on Saturday and Sunday 18th and 19th June. This is a fun packed event for pooches and their owners with live talks, demonstrations, competitions and doggy stalls to enjoy.

If you’d like to enter your pooch into the competition you can head to the Sanderson Arcade website: www.sandersonarcade.co.uk
