Wool Room displays traditional nativity scene at Sanderson Arcade

2 December 2014

The Wool Room at Sanderson Arcade has teamed up with the Christian New Life Centre in Morpeth to create a stunning nativity scene in the store window throughout December.

The display will be on show through to Christmas Eve in one of the Wool Room’s windows along the Arcade’s gallery.

The Christian New Life Centre has put together the nativity scene with the help of its Church members and Sunday school pupils. The Azure Garden Centre provided the crate, which has been crafted into the stable by church member David Bell.

Sunday school teacher Emily Nichol has worked with her pupils to put together the nativity scene over the last few weeks, the children have been busy making beautiful rustic stars, which they’re looking forward to unveiling and sharing with the Arcade’s shoppers.

The church is hoping that as well as creating a beautiful nativity scene they can help to raise awareness of the work the church undertakes in the local community. The local food bank is based at New Life Church, which helps families in need from across the region.

The Church is currently under major renovations to become a more family friendly space.

Mike Willis from The Christian New Life Centre, said: “We are really looking forward to seeing the nativity scene in place, the children have worked really hard on the project and it’s great to have their work displayed in the town.”

Staff at the Wool Room are delighted to be part of the project leading up to Christmas and will even have their own Wool Room “woolly sheep” as part of the scene.

Chris Tattersall from The Wool Room, the country’s leading  provider of wool beds and bedding said: “We’re delighted to have one our windows displaying this lovely nativity scene, the children have done an absolutely great job.”

Pictured are some of the children involved in making the Nativity scene: Ethan Raynolds – aged 11, Harvey Johnson – aged 10, Emma Dewhirst – aged 4, Esther Dewhirst – aged 1 with Medi Parry from Sanderson Arcade.
